What is an ASP?

An ASP (application service provider) is a technology company that hosts, monitors and manages software applications via the Internet for a monthly subscription fee. Advantages include secure, anywhere, anytime access to your data from any Internet browser; multi-location management without complicated networks; automatic upgrades and backups; minimal hardware requirements and no storage limitations. Web-based applications (such as Dentisoft Online) are often referred to as ASPs.

What do I need to run my office using an ASP-based practice management system like Dentisoft Online?

All you need is a PC, a high-speed connection to the Internet (such as DSL), and the web browser software that comes with your PC (such as Internet Explorer). Who owns the information?
